Supergirl

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” to Hit Theaters June 26, 2026

Mark your calendars for June 26, 2026, because Warner Bros and DC Studios are bringing “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” to theaters. Directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock, this adaptation of Tom King’s 2022 comic book series, illustrated by Bilquis Evely, is the second major release under the new DC Studios leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, following Gunn’s “Superman” movie set for July 11, 2025. Ana Nogueira adapted the comic for the screen.

At a DC Studios press conference last year, Gunn highlighted the stark contrast between Superman and their version of Supergirl: “Superman was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from infancy, while Supergirl grew up on a fragment of Krypton, witnessing the deaths of those around her in horrific ways for 14 years before coming to Earth. She’s much more hardcore; she’s not the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”

As first reported by Deadline, “House of the Dragon” star Milly Alcock will play Supergirl and is set to appear in another DC project before her big-screen debut as the Angel of the Sky.

The last Supergirl movie from Warner Bros was released in 1984, featuring Helen Slater as Supergirl and Faye Dunaway as the villain. Directed by Jeannot Szwarc, it grossed $14 million in the U.S.
